My name is Karina. Welcome to Sacred Elements and welcome to my world.
It all began at 19, when I worked in a flower shop learning the ropes of floral design and running a business. Years later I went on to start my own floral design business in my hometown of Seattle. Nine years and two children later, my husband and I packed up and moved our little family to Portland, Oregon. I was happy to exchange my role as a full time business owner for the honor of being a full time mama of two incredible boys.
But stay at home parenthood is tough and left me with little energy for my own creative growth. So as an outlet (and portal to sanity) I began building a green world around my home. I started outside with edible gardening and with the help of my industrious husband, I soon had 12 raised beds where I grew more organic greens than we could eat! I remember one Spring we harvested 120 heads of lettuce in one week! I took that growing gardening passion and began volunteering at my boy's elementary school learning gardens where I taught thousands of kids over nine years to grow their own food. It was during those years I began to notice the immense beauty surrounding us here in the Pacific Northwest.
I took occasional pics of the natural world on my iPhone 4s during my walks to school. Then on my bike rides. Then on my hikes. Then at the beach. Then in my backyard and my neighbor's backyard and everywhere I turned. I couldn't stop seeing the natural beauty and couldn't help but bring it home. To my home. To my friends' homes. I began to see the open canvases that were just waiting for plant life to enter. A green infusion, that deep breath of tranquility we naturally crave in our daily lives. I understood that this is the therapy we all need in our fast paced world.
And Sacred Space Design was born.
I was brimming with wonder and had to share this new found appreciation.
Then I discovered Instagram where I share my daily inspiration of Natural World therapy with an absolutely wonderful community around the world.
